When the produce is in season locally, the relative abundance of the crop usually makes it less expensive.
Think of the packaged herbs you spot in a grocery store during winter. For about $3 for half ounce you can get a few sprigs of basil, along with moldy leaves and black speckles.
But at summer season, you’ll notice bright green, crisp and gorgeous basil at the grocery stores and at the farmers’ markets. However, for an enormous bunch of basil, this time it will often sell for as little as $1-2.

For a lot of people, the taste of food we purchase is equally important as the cost.

Currently, there is no study conducted that quantifies the impact of these treatments. Therefore, relying and eating local produce is truly a safer and healthier option.
5. Make use of your backyard :
In most regions and due to the limited growing seasons, it’s impossible to eat in season and locally throughout the year.
